Could that be a 21'r?
The TP is pretty far forward......
No inlay makes it hard to tell....

IIRC, it is a 21.
A white 21 fretter with no inlay!
How rare is that!
Too bad it's missing the tug bar. That really takes the value down!

The bigger version:
This is a 1970 bass.

Has to be stupid rare

I think the inlays were filled by the looks of the photos. According to the Mike Parks info page on finishes, 1970 was the first year for white, and 70-71 are the only known years for 21 frets. Now considering the rarity of any basses from this period has to make this a virtual one-off. Does anybody have a theory why there are so few basses for sale from the 69-71 range? Was production from those years so much less? Seems to be more 67-68s and tons of 73 and later. In fact I see more post-transition 73s on the 'bay than most anything else

Ah, now we can see the fret board better.
Is the board saw cut for the inlays, and left as is or is there an actual dark inlay material in there?

They can't be that rare, 2/3 of my Ricks are from this time period!
Actually, I wish I knew the production numbers too. They do seem to come up a lot less than a '68 or '72.
