If I were still in an active band I would try building one of these. As for now, I'm hoping somebody else does and reports back with the design mods and improvements that will inevitably pop up. What's that line from the movies.... "Build it and they will come" ? Disclaimer: This design has not been built nor has it been tested. Users to build and use at their own risk.

That looks like a pretty well thought out design. I would want to test the strength of a table with three tubes to see how much weight it could bear. All together they should be able to handle the total weight. As to staying put and not moving in the heat of the moment is another question.

A black cloth coverlet that is form-fitted and drops to the floor covering the whole stage would be lightweight and dress it off nicely before the carpet is rolled out.

Yes, a test of a single unit would be good to do!!! ESPECIALLY if the plastic has the lightweighting holes. The testing could also include using 2 rings per panel instead of 3.

Good idea about the cover. I wonder if a form fitted cover would negate the need for the eye bolts and ties and maybe negate the need for the carpet as well. I certainly would look a whole lot better that what I show. Note the velcro pads which the cover could use to help secure itself.

As for the whole unit shifting around while playing, thats a good point. On a hard surface that could be a factor... on a carpeted floor I don't think it would be a problem.

My idea was just black cotton so as not to weigh a ton or cost that also. I would still use the tie wraps. And I agree about a hard surface - the plastic tubes will be very slippery on a hard surface and be able to move. Rubber backed carpet squares on the four corners (only one tube per corner) would hold it in place and not de-stablize.
