Radiohead and Grizzly Bear

Well, I just got back from what may have been the best concert I've ever been to. I just saw Radiohead with Grizzly Bear as the opener. First of all, I had no clue about the opening band and was pleasently surprised to find it was Grizzly Bear, who are a great Brooklyn band that I've been getting into lately. Grizzly Bear's bassist was sportin' a white 4001 BT for the whole set. Next up was the main event, Radiohead. They were incredible. Their lighting was incredibly cool, they sounded incredible. It was just perfect. They've got to be the tightest live band on the planet. Wow! Ed O'Brien played 2 different Ric 360's, 1 Jetglo and 1 Fireglo. The played just about the whole new album, plus quite a bit of Kid A (probably my favorite Radiohead album), and something from just about every other album. If anybody has a chance to see them, I highly recommend you do.

I saw Radiohead Friday night at Lollapalooza. If I'm being honest, I was never a big fan. However, their performance was stellar. Never a dull moment. I would describe their lighting as the closest thing to being at a rave.

My son, who is a big fan thought the concert was truly special.

Grizzly Bear? From Brooklyn? Well being that I was raised there, I will have to check them out.

I caught Radiohead a few years back in Toronto at the SkyDome. They put on a phenomenal concert. Both Ed and Thom played several 300-series Ricks. At one point Thom stopped the show when he spotted someone near the front freaking out either from bad drugs or as a reaction to the light show; the song, appropriately enough, was "Myxomatosis". They all picked up the song where they left off in a heatbeat, like there was no pause at all. Truly amazing musicians.

This first video is just to show what their current lighting looks like. The sound and video are pretty horrible, but you can get an idea what it looked like. The second video is Grizzly Bear, though not from last night. They're a very cool band. About the front-row-freakout, I can definitely see that happening. The whole time I was thinking, "I'm glad I don't have epilepsy."
