I just bought a MG 350/12v63. I like it a lot. But I haven't owned a Ric since the 80s (330/12), and don't have much to compare it to. I noticed that the 370, w/ its larger body, interestingly has its 3 hi-gain pups crowded fairly close, while my 350/12 has the 3 Toasters spread fairly evenly across a much smaller body. I know we're talking apples and oranges comparing the toasters and the hi-gains, but is there a significant difference resulting from the wider spread on pups in the 350/12?

The 350/12 is a 21-fret necked guitar. Your 370/12 was a 24-fret necked guitar. If you look on the 370/12RM, which has 21 frets, you'll find that the pickups are spaced more.

On a 21er, the neck pickup is closer to the midpoint (aka 12th fret) and sounds darker. The middle pickup acts the same way to a lesser degree. I've never done an A/B with a 21 & 24, with toasters. Let me see if I have two I can use for comparison and I'll see what I can find.

Here is something that may help... it's a file I posted here a while back, probably about a year or so. It is a comparison of a 370/12SPC (21 frets, 3 pre-scatter toasters), a 360/12v64 (21fr, 2 toasters), and a 360/12 (24fr, hi gains). Not the best for the purposes of this inquiry, but hopefully close enough to help.
