I want to start saving my vinyl records to the PC (Mac iTunes). Do you have any recommendations for a quality USB Turntable that would would do the trick? The turntable would have work with 78s, in addition to 45s and 33 1/3s.

If you already have a turntable, ART makes a box specifically for converting your analog record signal in to a digital one with rca ins(with phono pre amp) and USB outs. It's under 100 bucks, so it's a good solution if you already own one. Finding a usb turntable that goes to 78 could be rather difficult and expensive, and would suggest googling Dj suppliers nationwide to find one. It may not be so difficult, but you never know. My 2 cents anyways.

I was just asked that at work, but I have no experience with USB turntables, sorry. I told the guy to get one and let ME know how it works out, so's I'll have an answer in these cases!!

Another (more old fashioned!) option is to do what I do.

If you already have a turntable, why not buy a cheap stand alone CD recorder? Then you just plug your phono leads from the turntable straight into the CD recorder, and Robert's your Father's Brother!

Granted you don't get the features of a USB turntable, but I think you might struggle to find a USB turntable that plays 78's.

I just record all my old records onto CD's via my old but brilliant turntable, and then onto my Cd recorder, then when i have them on disc, I can whack them onto my PC to clean up the hiss and crackles. Works a treat for me, and I'm happy that they're being recorded at the right speed. A few of the cheaper USB turntables I've heard seem to be slightly slow to my ears.
