What a great keyboard player Charly...............the man behind the Stones.
"In 1965, he played piano on The Who's debut LP, My Generation. He recorded with most of the top British acts of the Sixties, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Kinks, and on solo albums by John Lennon, Jeff Beck, and others. He also helped define the "San Francisco sound", playing on albums by Jefferson Airplane, New Riders of the Purple Sage, and Steve Miller Band. He briefly joined Quicksilver Messenger Service and performed with Jefferson Airplane at the Woodstock Festival.
In 1967 he joined The Jeff Beck Group, formed by former Yardbirds guitarist Jeff Beck, with vocalist Rod Stewart, bassist Ronnie Wood and drummer Micky Waller, playing on their influential LPs Truth and Beck-Ola".

Also, Nicky Hopkins was one of the few cool studio cats to play on record with the Beatles...

It might be easier to name the artists that Nicky
didn't play with!

He did one great piano solo on "The Ox" on the "My Generation" album by The Who. The deep notes that he was hitting were actually John Entwistle's Fender Jazz bass according to Pete Townshend

His work on Jealous Guy is a perfect fit for the song as well. He was a great keyboard player.

The best keyboard player to ever come out of England! He passed away far too young.

I had no Idea he'd been gone so long. Other tracks of note:
"Sour Milk Sea" Jackie Lomax LP "Is this What You Want", 1968, (w/George, Paul & Ringo)
and
"We Love You" 45 single, 1968, The Rolling Stones (w/John & Paul)
I did see the original "Jeff Beck Group" twice in 1968. Sadly , no keyboard player (as in Mr. Hopkins) present.
However, what an incredibly fantastic life and time he surely had!

I wish he'd give me my Aquascutum raincoat back that I left on his sofa in 1969 . . .
