Has there ever been talk of doing a reissue of the 360s from the late 50s with the gold hardware, oven knobs etc?

I'm not certain what RIC called that color, but I like it.

It's been talked about by many forum members, but that's probably about it, at least for now, unless its on that 500 item list.
It would be better if it came with an Accent rather than a Kauffmann VB; the latter tends to disintegrate in one's hand with even minimal use.
RIC would need a much larger factory, staff, and who knows how many CNC machines to build all the reissues we drool over the thought of.
Gorgeous pic.

An Ac'cent wouldn't be historically correct. Plus, Kauffmans *look* awesome!
But yeah, you won't be seeing a reissue of this one any time soon.

I believe there was a C-series Capri prototype? Or was it a Combo 850?

I agree, it would be sweet. Why doesn't Ric have a larger factory and more CNC machines? And hire me....And then I could actually build one and afford it. And they should deal with small, but awesome shops like Professional Guitars in Ferndale. Heck, open a factory here in the D. I keep dreaming....

Where's the "D"? also, where's Ferdale? I don't know these places offhand, memory escapes me. In any case, Mr. Hall, to quote him, "likes living in California", and dealing with the backlog is probably enough to deal with as it is, without trying to build a new factory, double the work force, add even more CNC machines, which do the basic cutting, but not all of the finishing. Rics are still quite the handmade guitar. There's a lot that goes into building them-I've seen it firsthand and it's an eye-popping, jaw dropping experience that made me appreciate my Rickenbackers even more. The Labor intensity that goes into building Rics is really something.
Kauffmanns may look cool, but they aren't very functional. IIRC there were some Capri models that came with an Accent. Personally, I it wouldn't bother me if a Capri C series model was not 100% period correct due to the guitar's having an Accent instead of a Kauffmann; an Accent WORKS! Besides, I'm sure one could specify "Kauffmann", or "Accent" when ordering the guitar, just like the 325 C series is available with either a Kauffmann or an Accent, depending on which year one orders.

And while we're at it, let's put some Sperzel locking tuners! And Seymour Duncan pickups!
Just kidding, man...but I think I'm the only person in the world who actually likes the Kauffman vibrato! The whole idea behind the C-Series is to release the guitars 'warts and all'. If people want something different, they can always retrofit.
Rickenbacker is trying to expand, but there's a lack of skilled craftsmen and the Halls are not too eager to outsource parts like other companies.

I think back then it was just called brown.

I recall it being called "two-tone brown".
In many photos from the era, it looks dull. But this one is very well-lit, so that the wood beneath is reflecting the light through the transparent brown shading--really spectacular and an eye-catcher for sure!

Does anyone know for sure if the VBs available for Capris were only Kauffmanns, or was an early Accent VB available for some I know some of the F models had an early model of Accent with the note cutouts in the plate, and those are from the 50s-at least the one I saw so equipped was.
The Accent on the F model in the following video, though obviously the Accent designed for the F models probably wouldn't fit a Capri-the piece is too long.

Wow Joey, I forgot how long your hair was last year...then again I forgot a lot of stuff that happened last year.
All the blada blada aside, I'd love a 365 or 375Capri as well!

I believe that's the 375F I restored for Graham, and it was a '59, and the Accent was original. I believe '59 was the first year for "Accent by Paul" tailpieces, and you can see them alongside Kaufmanns until sometime in '60, when they took over completely. My '60 Capri originally had an Accent and I swapped it for a Kaufmann (pinned) for a more vintage look. Capris came with Accents through the end of production. The F bodies typically had the Accent with the two musical notes punched out, too, though I've seen some with long plain tailpieces, I seem to recall.

Interesting info, guys...didn't know they phased in Ac'cents along with the Kauffmans.
Sorry if I came off a bit strong up there, but I enjoyed the Kauffman on my former 325c58, even if I never really used it heavily. I've seen people really go off on the design and how c58s should have had Bigsbys, blah blah...
...somewhere in no-backlog-land there are Capri reissues waiting for us...

Ah, put whatever you want on it if you think it looks cool and it makes you happy!
