Allan Holdsworth is by far, my favorite guitarist of all time. No doubt about it.
I wish he played a Rickenbacker so we could have discussions about his unbeliveable, one of a kind talent.
But to call him a guitarist is not enough.
Musician and composer from another planet sounds better.
Sometimes I just sit, listen to his music and think about how glad I am to not be a guitar player because I would have thrown all of my equipment out of the window after about a minute of listening to it.
I am constantly in awe of his abilities.

That's all.
Carry on. :D

The only time I got to see Allan was with Jean Luc Ponty in the late '70s. Truly a world class musician.

he came to memphis with the band UK (version 1),which was the first time i ever got to see bill bruford, whom i had been a fan of for over 10 years at that point. that was a world class band as well, with eddie jobson and john wetton. anyway, allan has always impressed the hell out of me-even on acoustic guitar.

He's great. My guitarist is heavily influenced by him.

I listened to him a lot in the early 80's, back when you could go into used record stores and buy a shopping cart full of LP's for a buck apiece, used, and give a chance to some music you might have never heard before.
The UK album was great but so were some of his solo LP's at the time.
