I use Ernie Ball Super Slinkies 9's on all my guitars except my 620, and Gretsch. I've been thinking about trying them out on my 620, but if they don't work well I'll hate myself for trashing the Ric strings that are on it now. Have any of you guys tried 9's on your 620? If so how did you like the way the ric played and sounded with them?

I had a 660 strung with .009s. Dreadful. Felt and sounded all wrong. I get best sound from .010s. I'm sure some may disagree, but I don't think that Ricks and Super Slinkys are a good match.

I think the amount of non-vibrating string mass on Ricks give them a slinkier feel than other guitars of similar scale. I tihnk 10's are as light as I would go

Slippery: I would keep the RIC strings, especially over 9s. They are very thin and take away from the tone in my view.

In my experience, 10s are better, even Ernie Balls to the 9s you describe.

To take it a bit further for the benders, 10, 12, 16 , 26, 36, 46 is a step ahead of the traditional set of 9s.

I had the same experience on my 330, those 9s lasted about an hour. I've since read that you need to use at least 10s to put enough pressure on the bridge to get the best sound. I know that mine suffered noticeably with 9s.

Thanks for the input, I guess the Ric strings will stay on until they need replaceing, then mybe I'll try Pyramids in 10's, I've heard good things about them.

P's are pretty stiff. You might wanna try the TI's. Just my dos centavos' worth. Keep on keepin' on.......Goofyfoot.
