I'm finally getting a studio together in a 18x12 space in our guest house. I'm getting the acoustics under control, but am looking for some inspiration for the paint scheme. Been scouring the internet ... I know you guys have photos of your studio setups ... let's see 'em!
Thanks,
Jim

Not a recording studio, but nice for rehersals.

Lars: The piano and chair reminds me very much of that used by Paul McCartney at the Cavern in Liverpool.
Your studio is beautiful and must be very conducive to playing and recording.

Lars what is that bass in the case? (Not meaning to sound like Dr. Seuss) Reminds me of the one Rink Danko used to play.

It is an Ampeg AEB-1 from 1966. Danko's has been heavily modifyed and is fretless.

Thanks for the info Lars, the Jam space looks like a great place to spend a lazy Sunday.

Thank you Peter!
After 14 years in i a house less suited for a working musician, we built this new house and moved in febrary this year. I'm very happy with it, finally I have my own room for rehersals and office work. Right now I'm sitting at the desk to the left with the laptop.
The colours are terracotta (orange/brown) for the large left wall, light grey for the other walls. The ceiling is white. The floor is maple.
Not intentional but

!

Awesome studio, John. What a pleasure it must be to play in such a beautiful and spacious environment.
My whole studio could fit in your vocal booth. I'd send a pic but I can't back up far enough to get in focus
(it's true!)

John, do you actually leave that studio from time to time? And if so, why?
Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing the photos.

John that is waaay nice! Looks like a good place to hang out after a hard day at the office.....
A question - what did you end up doing with your humidity issue?

Humidity has turned out to be a non-issue. For instance, right now the fog is thick and the tide so the water's only about 30 feet away, a worst case scenario really, and the humidity is only about 48%. That's quite tolerable and it usually hovers at about 40%. There is a 5 ton HVAC unit just in case but I've only needed to use it on a very few warm days; it does has a special humidity reduction mode consisting of brief cycles but I've yet to use it.
The biggest problem about working here is one that an old codger visiting one day summarized as "too much skin". But cold weather will solve that fairly soon.
I should have mentioned or added pictures to show that the studio gear itself is in a hidden wall rack, the mixer under a fold-back section of the desktop, and computers racked in the equipment room that also houses the automation, security, phone, and media equipment. Everything is remoted to be quiet and keep heat out of the studio.
There are also some additional photos of the studio and rest of the place here:

I agree with Joey's summation John. It is a very cool studio indeed. I understand that you are an excellent bass player. I would love to play and perhaps even record with you someday. I will only play with bass players who play a Rickenbacker. That's just one of my quirks I guess.
