Name That Guitar!

Post by kenposurf »

As I'm sure Charly will agree, many great blues players could never afford a high priced axe yet somehow made what they played speak volumes. How about some posts of blues players playing these second string guitars? Twenty years ago a lot of blues player slung a Fender Jaguar as they could be had for $100 or so and looked like a Strat ..the good ol days! Two vids here..first is Magic Sam on a Univox...the second I can't tell what Otis is playing (upside down)..anybody?

Epiphone Riviera? Headstock looks weird, though.

Move on if you've seen this from me already. I posted this once somewhere with the same question, but I can't resist doing it again, this guitar is outstanding.

In the Otis Rush clip, the pickguard has the Epiphone "E" symbol on it. Of course, it could just be an Epi pickguard...

Based on the tailpiece, pickguard, and general appearance, I think the Riviera is correct.
