A $30 Kay solidbody that my Dad bought me in 1971. Within a couple of years I had a short Rick horn-tulip with a bad refin and a huge Gretsch Electromutt, ditto the bad refin. My first nice one was an SG standard in brown from atound '73. My first bass was some kind of mutt but my second one was a newly-introduced Ripper. Wish I had 'em all now, especially the Kay (just kidding).

6-string Barth in a 3-tone sunburst back in 1966. First bass was a deep burgundy double-bound hollowbody Conrad that kind of looked like the Gretsch George Harrison played. No pictures of either, and I've googled too.

A '57 Les Paul Jr. I got it sometime in the summer of '67. Sure wish I could remember what happened to it.

Squier Strat...Shoreline Gold with big '70s headstock. Interestingly, I've never seen another like it.

Played it for a year or two, then eBayed it and went to the store to upgrade to an Epiphone Dot. Hanging on the wall was a gorgeous dark-fireglo 330...and you can probably guess what happened! :D

Some cheap, sort of Strat-shaped thing. It might have been a Kay or a Silvertone, one of the brands that was sold at Sears some time in the 70's. It was a horrible cherry burst that I promptly spray painted white with a big black question mark (guess who inspired that). It played like a baseball bat strung with barbed wire. I bought it and an amp in 1982 for $75. From a nun. :D
About a year later, I bought a Squier Strat.

My first guitar was a no name acoustic guitar handed down to me by my older brother.

A POS acoustic from an out of business chain store called Gemco. You could slip a zippo under the strings at the 12th fret the action was so bad. :D

A no label hand made acoustic that I got in Manila when I was just a wee lad of 11.Odd in that it has a slot peghead with nylon strings, but a curved fretboard.

A red Squier by Fender Strat. Worst guitar I've ever owned. Hated it, and traded it for an Epiphone Les Paul, which was a little better, and still own to this day (but I would like to sell it, though)

My first 6-string was a Danelectro U2 reissue that I bought used in a pawnshop, but really my first guitar was an Epiphone P-Bass copy.
