Low volume E string. Mystery solved?

OK, I have a brand new 2008 bass with the new style higains. My bass has the mysterious low volume E string problem that gets talked about alot here. Well, I just recevied my new Sergio higains this week and installed them as soon as they got here. Well what'd you know, the E string has volume again! I played around with the stock pickups for at least 5 months and never could find a soulution to the problem. I adjusted/reajusted truss rods, filed nuts, filed saddles, everything I could possibly think of, nothing. The new pickups solved the problem. What gives?

BTW, fabulous pickups Sergio! WONDERFUL!

Hey Cole! Many thanks.
As for the low volume E string issue you mention, I can't possibly imagine what might be causing it. The G string on your bass did sound okay?

No problem now Sergio thanks to your pickup. Yes, the G was fine, so was the other two. The A D G strings loud punchy and full; the E sting, hollow, low volume, sounded like it was being picked up on a microphone rather than the pickup.

No, had several string changes, with different brands too.
