A needle in a haystack, but...looking for...

I'm currently looking for a double neck guitar / bass combo. I'd love to have a 4080 but that is WAY too much coin.
We do a few songs in my band where a second guitar would be great and there is no bass there. So...I'm just thinking.
I used to lust after one of those Carvin ones but they don't make them any more. And just missed out on a Steinberger.
Looking for something (relatively) inexpensive, hence the exclusion of the 4080. Ideas?
I've seen the Galvestons and such on Ebay, but I can't pull the trigger on one because, well, they are Galvestons. :)

Steve,

I believe, if you're game, that there are double-neck Danelectros out there. The only one I could find right now is a 6-string & baritone combination:

http://cgi.ebay.com/DANELECTRO-DOUBLE-N ... dZViewItem

The baritone could be strung like a Bass vi.... I've seen Dano 4-string bass & 6-string doublenecks before plus a lone Jerry Jones bass/6 double-neck. These won't break the bank.....

However, I'm not sure that they would fit with your favoured genres...

Well, I play rock, not metal, but hard classic rock. A Danny might not fit the bill, but I wouldn't be above trying one if I could lay my hands on one! Thanks, any others?

You can build a custom one at Warmoth.

Other than that...no idea, sorry.

Hey, Page played a Dano with Zep. Is that not rock?

Oh yes, Zep is rock! That is what I was thinking when I pulled this bad boy out Saturday night for Stairway To Heaven. :)

The story, well, someone local was looking for a 5-string bass, had this to trade, it is a 70's Aria bass in excellent condition. Waiting on a set of knobs to replace the missing one, but had to show this off a little while I waited. I had a few extra 5-strings laying around, ended up trading a Peavey Grind 5-string for it straight up. Came with a case that looks like a card table :)

Yeah, way cool, but what do you do with that little short neck with all the tiny strings?

I think you strum it or something...:)
Actually I used to play guitar a lot, but I'm WAY out of practice. I guess I need to get out to the woodshed with this bad boy.
