Australia For the semester

Hey, I am in Perth for a semester at Murdoch Uni. I am from the states originally but am doing a semester abroad. I know there are some sweet collections in Australia and was wondering if it might be possible to meet up with any of you guys while I am here if I do some travels. To my knowledge no one on the forum is from Perth.... Also, are there any places I must see while here? Ric or non-Rick related. Thanks!
-Graham

A couple friends of mine was in NW Australia last year to see the oldest exposed rocks on the planet. Of course, they are both geologists!

Graham, a number of us live in Melbourne. All you need to do is give us some advance warning that you're coming over and we'd be happy to arrange another Big Boys Show'n'Tell.

Hi Graham
You'll have to come over to Melbourne. Apparently about 90% of all known Rics on Oz are here
I haven't been to WA myself, but I'm told that Fremantle is pleasant little place. Rottnest Island is popular for day trippers.
Also the Margaret River area is renowned for it scenery and wine (and surf for that matter!!).
Some other places to visit are Broome, Monkey Mia, and Ningaloo Reef.
Unfortunately if you want to go anywhere in WA you are going to haave to travel a long long way. Its a big place !!

Graham,
if you get some time and you can make it to NSW, I would be keen to catch up for a beer and talk shop. I also have some accommodation about an hour north of Sydney at a place called Ettalong Beach. You are more than welcome to use it as it is a holiday house I use during the summer months.

Oh and Darren. It's good to see you have finally gotten that operation you were talking about. I am sure the missus is rapt.

Ah, the beautiful Central Coast or, to quote the late great Spike Milligan, God's waiting room:
- The place where the pigeons cough;
- Where the seagulls feed bread to the people;
- Where, when you plug in you electric toothbrush, all the streetlights dim.
Love it to bits (I spent my first year in Umina, a whopping 100 yards from Ettalong), though a lot of my extended family live up there, so I'm not sure it's a good neighbourhood!
Graham, if you do make the cross country trip, drop a PM and we'll have a coffee/schooner (that's a big beer in NSW, not a two masted sailing vessel).
You will love WA if you like it hot, but as has been mentioned, it's kind of big - about 1/4 to 1 /3 the size of the entire continental US... and gas is a lot more expensive out here....

Glad you're enjoying it, Graham......... exams notwithstanding!!
As soon as you have a date let us know. We can pick you up from the airport, provide you with accommodation, perhaps organise one of our usual 'special overseas visitor' mini-confluence/jam sessions, have a traditional Aussie barbecue, take you to a gig or two and get you out to the airport for your flight back to the US. Ummm...... not all in the one day, of course!!
I believe our hospitality has now reached 'legendary' status so have no fear.
Perhaps a few warnings are in order..... we laugh a lot, get a bit rude from time to time, eat well, love our grog and enjoy playing and listening to music. If any of those offend then I'm terribly sorry!!

Are you still planning a visit to Melbourne, Graham?
