As the heart and soul of the seminal band The Who, songwriters and singers Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey transformed the sights and sounds of rock and roll.Couldn`t have put it better! :D Great news.

The musical tribute to Morgan Freeman was great, almost better the that for The Who. :D

I thought some of it (the whole show, not just the Who parts) was slightly embarrassing. The band doing Who numbers was weak in the first number. Dave Grohl livened it up a bit, and the finishing Baba O'Reily was decent.

I was much more wowed by the appearance of the blues legends for Morgan Freeman's honors... Pinetop Perkins? Koko Taylor? Man oh man. And then comes BB King. Again, wow. Sorry to see his guitar playing past his prime, although his strong vocals still stirred me.

I'm not a big fan of country music, but I thought George Jones got the best musical numbers - in fact, they made me consider becoming a fan of country music.

As for Babs, the first singer ("Don't Rain on my Parade") was less than stellar. Then came Beyonce. Again, like country music, I hardly follow (or care about) Beyonce or her music - but she hit it, I mean really hit it, with "The Way We Were". My jaw was on the floor.

And what was going on with Twyla Tharp? She looked like she was dragged there against her will. She finally cracked a tiny smile at the end of her honors, but did she ever look school marmish most of the time!

I wondered that, too, about Twyla, why was she there? :?

Agreed, the blues legends were the best, I just had to say what I did to make our Who fans here not feel they got the short end of the stick, but most of the tribute performers for them were weak! I am still not a fan of country music, however! I was least interested in Barbra or her musical tribute; it was okay, but then, I am not a fan of her type of music, in general. The male singer in the Bernstein section, however was superb. :D

I happened to catch her singing that too. Made me consider her as a real singer. Yeah, that sounds cold, but I've never been attracted to her usual fare. This girl can sing.

The Who tribute performer who sang "Love Reign Over Me" did a knockout performance...Pete was moved, Roger was moved, and I was moved.

You're right, I'd forgotten that bit - I also was moved by her rendition, well-done and a good interpretation.
