Yeah, alright...only two of them are originals, three are solid state conversions. But don't they look cool, getting some air at sunset...

The black original is Kenny's, and the Burgundyglo one is my friend Bob's; both are now functioning properly after rebuilds. We've now got a schematic for Series 2 LSs, too.

It was a Light Show weekend...

Nice, Paul!

You are right, the JG 330LS's do look closer to the originals, even when side-by-side at 1st glance.

Very cool. You should get a shot of all of them lit up at once (or will that be too much wattage in the cottage?)

Cheers,
-Collin

Fore!!

Great pics, Paul. It seems so long ago when I was standing there, having a beer and watching the klutzes tee off! :( :(

Oh, man oh man! What can one say? You even make me love the "R" tailpiece, Paul, and that's saying a mouthful.

Can I be the first to say I think your conversions look BETTER than the originals!

:)

I never liked the cover shape on the originals, it's awkward and looks messy with the R tailpiece over the gap. The conversions are so much more classically 'Rick' and stylish.

By the way, I thought this was going to be thread about that Las Vegas girl band (can't remember the name unfortunately) who used a set of them including a 4005. There are some 'interesting' ;) pics of them, although I can't find any at the moment...

Great pics Paul! I'm curious though, why don't the lenses on your repros use the same pattern at the originals? Is it because the originals don't have the tailpiece "scoop"?

Awesome photos Paul. They look like they are poised to take over the world.

That first pic should be a calendar shot.

Thanks to all you Rick nutz for the positive vibes. I couldn't wait to get home from the office and photograph these! Bringing them home all at once made me drive even more cautiously than I usually do!

It's sort of the other way around, Steve. My conversions don't have the flat tail of the originals. I suspect the originals were done the way they were to maximize lens area. Also, the originals are about 1/2" thicker than a 330, which my conversions are based upon, of course.

I thought long and hard about how to light them all up at once...the three conversions all use an external signal from the amp (or any other amplifier output like a keyboard, mike, or even a stereo system, which makes them great party wall decorations!) But the originals require a signal generator with leads clipped to the preamp inputs inside the guitar, OR somebody strumming the guitar. Kinda kills the effect.
