I wanted to do a poll for this, but Peter said that 10 choices was all we could do, So....

What is your favorite Beatles Album? For the sake of this discussion, let's keep it to the thirteen original titles that were released in the U.K. while the Beatles were still a group. I've put Magical Mystery Tour in there even though it wan;t originally released in Britain in this form (It was a double EP set there). Many countries did follow the U.S. album release, though, and Britain id finallty put the album out in 1977. Your choices are:

So - Which of these is your favorite? And - Why?

Gosh, I'm absolutely torn. My desert island Beatle album would be...

"Revolver". It still has their youthful magic, but shows the promise of great things to come. Could I please have a second? "A Hard Day's Night".

The 'White Album'. I can't definitively say why however. I think it has to do with the cross-section of material; the starkness of much of it; the period of time when it came out and just the overall feel of it. I go back to it time and time again. Hard to believe that in a couple of months it will be 40 years old.

Most of their other LP's come in a close second

For me, it would be Revolver if I could only pick one. But I'd put them in this order.

Interesting! You placed BFS higher than I would have. But you didn't give a reason.

I am really only familiar with the U.S. versions, but I would say that my #1 would be Rubber Soul, closely followed by Revolver.

Rubber Soul, Hard Day's Night a close 2nd.

I really like "Revolver", however, "With the Beatles" ("Meet the Beatles") still gives me more enjoyment and fond memories.
I suppose that is because it was the first American release and I bought it shortly after the first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show---but the rawness and obvious joy that they had creating it really stands out for me.

Please Please Me is my overall number one choice. It's been said by the fabs themselves that this album is as close as you'd get to a "live" performance. "I saw her standing there" as an opening track, sets the tone for one hell of a great rock'n'roll experience.
Rubber Soul comes a close second.

Revolver, hands down. Rubber Soul a close second. Then Help!, then Beatles For Sale...I go backwards

Abbey Road is my favorite. Then, the rest in reverse order (White Album to Please Please Me).

I think that my favorite would be Rubber Soul, followed by A Hard Day's Night, Abbey Road, Revolver (tied with AR), Help!, and then With the Beatles. The others are all rather scattered, with Sgt. Pepper and Yellow Sub (with the instrumental film music) being in the bottom two.

The first four albums get as much playin time as each other ,
so the first four albums it is!
