Chris Hillman's Bass Strings

I was watching a video of the Byrds from I think 1990, on Youtube doing "Mr Tambourine Man" with Bob Dylan. Chris was using a V63 with the HS cover removed. The tone he was getting out of that bass was wonderful. Does anyone know what strings he was using around that time?
