Had mine for a couple of weeks now and I'd say if you've got a Ric 6 or 12 string, a Gretsch, a Fender Tele, a Gibson 335 or an Epiphone Casino, you need to get one now! (Yes, I've played 'em all through it!)

It's even wonderful when used DL'd to a mixer/recorder, for recording.

But plug this baby into a valve amp, and you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Utterly, utterly fabulous. Your Ric 12 string is only a quarter of the guitar it could be if you're not using this box.

The best £100 I've ever spent!

It's certainly not the one trick pony I had it marked down for.

I'm a bit concerned about plugging a mains power supply into it though. I've got a 9v DC adaptor from another piece of electrical equipment, but I've heard somebody mention reverse polarity, or something?

I don't want to fry my baby....

Rob: Yes, be sure to check the polarity of your adapter.

The Janglebox uses a positive tip which is a relative rarity in the world of effects pedals with most (Boss for example) requiring a negative tip.

How do I know if my adaptor has a pos or neg tip?

Many thanks to all of you. I really appreciate the support. We're working up some new surprises that we hope will be ready by year's end. I think JB customers — those who gig professionally or semi-professionally, especially — will be excited.

Rob: as for a power adapter, you should look for a 9V, 500mA, 2.1 mm x 5.5 mm barrel, center pin positive polarity adapter. Give those specs to any electronics retailer and you should be set, assuming it meets UK voltage requirements, about which I'm unsure.

One commercial power unit we can recommend is the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power, as long as you use their optional reverse polarity cable. On their website, Voodoo Labs even cites the JangleBox among the handful of pedals for which that cable was intended.

U.S. customers can contact me directly for a power adapter or our own reverse polarity cable. Though it's not yet on our website, it will be once we're ready with the "surprise" I mentioned above. Go to our website for contact information: http://www.janglebox.com

Oh no, you're going to bring out something even better and I've just bought the old version!

Seriously though, here is a picture of my adaptor.

At the bottom the negative sign is pointing to the outer circle and the positive sign to the inner.

Can I use this safely?

Picture is a bit fuzzy Rob, it will be perfect as long as the centre contact is + and the outer is - and the plug is the correct size (inner and outer). It looks like it is + centre but I can't quite see. 1 amp is better than 500ma as it will be running at less than half capacity.

Rob, phew, I'm so pleased that I managed to unload that old model JB on you just before it became obsolete! Anybody want one of the new ones? I have 10 for sale at £50 each!

There is a UK ebay seller who sells neg to positive converter adapters - I have one and it works a treat on my Janglebox. Don't have the link to hand it this moment, but let me know if you want the details!

Had my Janglebox for a few months - I don't play through my amp without it - fantastic little bit of kit.

Thanks for that John. A very kind offer!

From what I've been told, I think the power adaptor that I have will be OK, so I'll give it a go this weekend.
If it fries my lovely Janglebox then I'm going to be popping round to pay Mr Levett a visit.

It would be great if you could let me know the name of the supplier (PM me) as I know a couple of other people here in the UK who may be purchasing a Janglebox and may need one.

I'm mildly surprised that product manufacturers don't install a diode in the power input circuit, to protect the device against accidental incorrect connection.
Or a full wave bridge and then polarity won't matter and it will work with any plug of the correct size.
