They've certainly covered their share of blues numbers, but could we call Jerry a blues musician?

Nope..................... Can we call him a musician.................... Just kidding.

Nah, they were a party band. ANY song that they could jam on for hours was fair game!!!

I won't argue with that. Besides, I don't think Jerry had an ounce of deep sadness in his soul. He was pure beautiful.

This logo was placed on all their instruments and gear so the party goers, cheerfully known as "dead heads" did not steal their stuff.

I just finished reading Grateful Dead Gear by Blair Jackson, which gave me a whole new appreciation for the GD. A must read for anyone into music, guitars, PA systems, audio and just about anything else relating to the music, audiophile, or instrument lover. Very highly recommended.

It looks like that the cameraman got a new zoom lens for his birthday. Much as I like the Dead after the first three minutes of continuous zooming in I switched off as I just couldn't take any more!

Jerry was a fantastic blues player, he was also a fantastic rock, bluegrass, folk, jazz and even funk-ish guitarist. Add to that an excellent banjo and pedal steel player. Not sure you could put a straight label on him.

The Dead could play five nights in a row at a venue, and not only would you not hear the same song twice over the five nights, you wouldn't even hear the same musical genre. Each night would be completely different - one night country, another night boogie, another night spacey, yet another night jazzy.
