New jetglo 650c damaged, but how?

Brand new. The headstock has large ding in it and scraped to the wood on both edges. It is ugly. Got it from a well known dealer. No damage on the box or case that I could see. I didn't make the photo small enough to post here. If anyone can quickly shrink it or crop it I would be grateful. Thanks :)

It's quite fortuitous you're in LA for that situation, you can probably just drive over rather than ship it.

The headstock would have to be sanded down too much for a repair. (I am no expert though) Something I wont do. I am trying to return it.

RIC will say the dealer did it, that it left the factory in perfect shape.

Here is the resized picture:

The damage is multipoint and appears to be of the 'scrape-gouge' variety.

Isn't that most likely what happened though? Not sure what you meant, Kira. Perhaps I misread.

I'm not doubting their word. I trust that they can get 'em out the door in one piece. Dealers, that's another story :(

Looks like it hit some pavement.

EXACTLY my impression, Kira.

Dealer doings, no doubt. Or, a customer demoed it, messed it up, stuck it back on the rack, and split. It is not too tough of a repair, however; the fact that it's JG helps a LOT.

I'm not saying this is what happened to your Rick, because I don't know the circumstances. However, one time I bought a Les Paul with headstock damage similar to yours. I got it pretty cheap, because the damage was the responsibility of the dealer. The Les Paul was one of many hanging on a wall by 'wall hangers'. What happened was a guitar just above the Les Paul wasn't properly returned to its hanger,it slipped down landing smack dab on top of the Les Paul's headstock. The gouges and scraping are eerily similar.

Looks totally fixable to me. too much wood? Not sure but being a Jet Glo I think it could be patched up at RIC no problem. Worth the drive to find out.

Did you give the dealer a chance to make it right?

I was wondering this myself.
