Interested in hearing from those who modified their 325c58s or 325v59s to different specs. Did you decide from the start that you wanted it that way or did you decide after you bought it? Was anyone unhappy with the features of the stock models?

When I got a 325c58, I originally planned to do it up Lennon-style with a Bigsby, bowtie, Burns knobs, etc. However, I soon found myself admiring the quirky charm of the Kauffman Vib-rola and the classic features. I think that if I were to get another c58 somewhere down the line, I would mod it to look more like an original '58, with a straight-handle Kauffman, two-tone brown finish, and perhaps the two-knob PG.

Thoughts?

When I bought my 325V59, I knew I wanted to do the Lennon mod. But everything that I've changed on it is completely reversible, and I've kept all the original parts.

Kris, that's one advantage of owning a v59...the Bigsby's already installed. It's hard to drill holes in an expensive 325c58!

Dan, it is one of the ten unique C Series "test body" guitars that were finished and sold in 2004. This one is maple with f hole and Montezuma Brown finish.

I tried out Wes' C58 with the Bigsby B5 and bowtie bridge; I really liked the feel of that guitar.

I did both. I kept my 325C58MG original and my 325C58JG received the mod's.

Which do you prefer now that you have a choice? Are there any sound/playability differences?

I prefer the modified version. I really don't like the Kaufmann. It is awkward and in the way. I also think it goes out of tune much quicker.
