OK. I'm always looking for the perfect bass rig. Not too big, not too small, but juuuuust right. I've went through alot of amp / cabinet combinations over the last few years, power amps / preamps, heads, ,,,...you know the routine.

Lately, I've been getting into Gallien-Krueger and Avatar cabinets. I think I've finally hit on what works for me....

Avatar 212 NEO

What can I say? You have your small rig,,GK400RB IV through the 210,, or bigger, the GK 700RB II with the 212, or if you just want to kill some people, the whole shootin match run stereo with a Rickenbacker. Simple enough eh???

Seriously,, I was never really happy with a "small" rig. They have their place, and they are very nice, but when you want to move some air Its just not gonna happen. What can I say? ?? I'm just a kid at heart, having a good time.

FYI, I did get the chance to finally try Markbass over the weekend. Very impressive. I also tried the GK MB2 500 watt mini amp. It sounded good, but I think the Markbass won out in the bottom end catagory between the two.

Should only take about four trips back and forth to get your gear in (assuming only two Rics). Not too bad....at my most "compact" I had to make five and that was livable.

Yeah, well, If your a bass player you have to accept certain liabilities.

The ability to make one trip in, and one out is why I got a small combo amp.Bass -of-choice in right hand and amp in the left(stronger arm).

I too, prefer one, or at most, two trip load in/outs. Hand carts are your best friend in this regard.

What came in the Carvin box?

The top left corner of the box says "RL210T" so I'm guessing a 2x10 speaker cabinet and I seem to remember Scott having one. Apparently he now prefers Avatar.

Yep. Its my old Carvin 210, great cab, 4 ohms, 2 tens and a horn. Im getting ready to toss it on Craigslist. I also have an Ampeg 115BSE 8ohm cab that I will sell next month.

Longtime GK fan here too. Yesterday we played in a rehearsal studio that has a 1001RB head (700 watts @ 4 ohm) with 2 Neo cabs, 212 and 115. This rig is perfect for me. All flat, with a '75 P bass (sorry... I love this bass) it sounded like a dream. I'm now considering ordering the GK Neo 1001/212 combo (460 watts, 700 watts with extension cabinet).

I've been using an Aguilar 212 cabinet (4 ohms, 600 watts) for several years. Going smaller would be nice but, for one thing, I don't have the room in my apartment to store several cabinets and second we do a lot of outdoor things in the summer and I need something that'll push some air when I need it. We do not reinforce so stage level is what it is.

I'm running an Ashdown RPM-1 JE Sig model with a QSC PLX 2402 - 600 watts per channel. It does the trick and then some for the venues I do. The RPM really makes all my basses sound great. For a change in the clubs I also like to use an old warhorse GK800RB (80's vintage) - can't go wrong there either.
