ANybody in the forum have any pictures of a RoMo era 1997/1998/330s/335s that has that strange Black to Red burst finish?
The only example I have seen was from the Bacon book. Surely someone here owns one of these and has close-up pics. I want to possibly re-fin my 1997SPC/VB that way....just to have something completely out of the ordinary.

#1 looks too orange to me. Burst pattern is weird too. Kind of looks like someone used to spraying mexican fender bursts painted it. Might just be the photo though

That was Autumn-Glo in the mid to late '60s.

Keep in mind that digital photos capture the actual color of a guitar, especially a burst, only very rarely. I suspect that if we had all the guitars together in person, they would look more similar. The photo you show is taken with the light source behind the guitar, which makes it a lot darker.

It is so difficult to compare finishes from photo evidence as ths light and the quality of equipment and indeed the monitor too is so variable.

This is true....which is why I am asking for more pictures of this. I have seen them as dark as the one in the Bacon/Day book (ref. page 31 ) and then some not as dark, like the submissions above, which are quite beautiful BTW. I seem to recall, there being a picture somewhere online that showed this drastic contrast, even on digital photography, which is why I would like any info that the forum can provide about it.
What years was it offered? What models? How different is it from a FG, AutumnGlow? Was it a mistake? It almost looked like one of those finishes you find on old Teisco's and Silvertones.
Hell, why not just use the old Antigua scheme that Fender used in the Coronado years....how over the top would that be?

I think jwilli's right...it's the mid-60's version of Autumnglo. The 360 I posted earlier was confirmed as an Autumnglo by John Hall.

Then Autumnglo it is. Who questions Mr. Hall?

Very nice, indeed. A 1968, I'm guessing? Anyone here own it?
