Well, at least this didn't take 9 years and 8 months...
Lemmy is a hell of a nice guy and actually was interested in the story as to why
delivery took so long.
My god, what is there left to wait for...

You need to protect that signature someway. Seeing the LKs never had a signed pickguard (duh, no guard), that is so cool!

Wow that is a "YES, YES, YES --- Whoopie" moment if there ever was!! Maybe get a replacement cover and see about getting the original coated or coated.

Yeah - I'd have a replacement cover made, and keep the original in a plastic bag.

Just having a 4004LK is pretty freakin' awesome in and of itself. If my 4003FL is my Athena and the 4002FL would be my Apollo, then the 4004LK would be my Hades. The dark god of the Ric basses. Enjoy it--with or without that one guy's signature!

Funny story: I went to the motorhead show at the anaheim hob to deliver a guitar to phil campbell. Just in case,
I brought along the backplate. After meeting with phil and his guitar tech roger (ultra cool guys), I asked roger if
he could have lemmy sign my backplate. I explained to roger that it took 9 years and 8 months to take delivery.
Lemmy was off in a private dressing room and in went roger. Within 30 seconds the door opens and roger comes
out and says "he wants to speak with you". I didn't have the nerve to ask him for a photo but he "grilled" me on
what happened and asked if I bought it from ed roman! He also gave me one of his personal picks as well as a handfull
of his stage picks. I can't put into words how cool lemmy and the guys from motorhead are.
Now I just have to finish paying off the 1992lem!

Very cool, Joe! I agree with Kris and John A. I wouldn't leave that cover on the bass. I'd get another and put that one in safe keeping.
