No, not the Beatles tune...

If any of you have a Rick made in the year 2001 (proximity to week 09 is a plus), could you please post a pic of the inside of the cavity? Not the elctronics, but the cavity itself. I'm looking to compare tape spots and other marks in there. Speedy replies are greatly appreciated!!!!!!! Thanks everyone. Cheers, JD

Har. Yeah, I have one that's got a big wide tape spot (bare wood) with the serial written, without spaces, in pencil, and no other marks like initials or anything. Just wondering if it's normal.

I have definitely owned one (or maybe currently own one?) with same scheme in the cavity.

JDog. Based on other comments and photos I have seen over the years, the markings including tape in the cavity are certainly within the limits of normalcy.

"Within the limits of normalcy"

A cool phrase.

Is it common for serial numbers to be written inside the mid seventies' models? My 4001 has been separated from her original jackplate, so I'm wondering if there may be a clue to her DOB buried within.

Do a little searching here, Kira, I'll bet you'll find lots of cool threads on cavity markings. A lot of times there are initials or first names, model numbers (not always exact!) or finish codes, options, etc.
