Beatle Eras

The Beatles we know and love have had different eras:

Era 1: The Old Days (1957-July 1962)
Era 2: The Early Beatles: "Please Please Me"/"With the Beatles" (August 1962-July 1964)
Era 3: The "Beatles for Sale"/"Help!" era (August 1964-September 1965)
Era 4: The Metamorphosis: "Rubber Soul"/"Revolver" (October 1965-August 1966)
Era 5: The Psychedelic years: "Sgt Pepper"/"Magical Mystery Tour"/"Yellow Submarine" (November 1966-February 1968)
Era 6: The Stripped Down years: "The White Album" (March-November 1968)
Era 7: The end of the line: "Let It Be"/"Abbey Road" (January-August 1969)
Era 8: The "reunion": (July 1994, for the "Anthology" tapings)

Which one do you like? Which one don't you like?

My favorite is the "Rubber Soul"/"Revolver" era, simply because they became the band they knew they could be, and made their best albums ever.

The only problem is that your "stripped down years" doesn't last much more than 7 monthes...

I think I'd call Let It Be "stripped down" before the White Album.

I like to classify Beatles albums by drug:

Alcohol - "Please Please Me" to "Beatles For Sale"
Marajuana - "Help" to "Rubber Soul"
LSD - "Revolver" to "Magical Mystery Tour"
Eastern religion - "The Beatles"
Heroin - "Let it Be" - "Abbey Road"

I personally favor the early years. The rawness was incredible. I still get a shiver when i hear Paul count in "I Saw Her Standing There."
.... a One, Two, Three, Faww :D
That aside, I love almost everything they have done,in whatever "Era"!

LOVE IT! Though I think I would include the White Album under the heroin era.

I'd always thought of four Beatles' eras:

The Early Years - Spring, 1960 to July, 1963 (They were not called the Beatles until about May, 1960)
The Beatlemania Years - August 1963 to December, 1965 (Starting with She Loves You)
The Psychedelic Years - 1966 to December, 1967
The Final Years - 1968 to 1969 (For all intents and purposes, the Beatles ceased being a band after about August, 1969)

I guess my favorite eras span the albums from "A Hard Days' Night" to "Revolver." It seems to me that from Sgt. Pepper through Magical Mystery Tour they couldn't have pulled off a live performance without dragging the entire London Symphony Orchestra along. My second favorite eras span the albums The Beatles, Let It Be, and Abbey Road. They seemed to have returned to a more self-contained sound, albeit with the addition of Billy Preston. The rooftop concert I think rather supports my contention.

Credit/Debit Figures:

•Apple was declared the most successful new record company of the year for 1968.

•The building at 3 Saville Row cost an estimated £500,000.

•The Apple label lasted until 1976.

•The Beatles were advised that they would lose £2 million if they didn't invest in a business...thus Apple.

•'Those Were The Days' sold 4,000,000 in four months worldwide.

•Apple's world sales since August '68 now total some 16,192,126 (Press release to AP and Reuters).

Interesting.

Apple Records Was successful, but it was surrounded my so many failing subsiduaries like Apple Electronics that overall, it was a suicide.

The best thing Apple Corp. was good at was suing Apple Computers. :)
