Anybody watch it? Great early history and movie footage of TP, plus
all those fantastic instruments!

i tivo'd it,so hope to watch it soon. i was flipping between channels watching a 2 hour genesis history on vh1 and rush r30 concert on some channel with a butterfly logo...my brother came in from another room asking "what's with all the prog?"

i haven't actually heard any mudcrutch yet,so should be interesting to see tom petty playing bass....

I watched it, naturally. Tom's bass playing on his Fender Jazz and Ric 4001C64 wasn't half as bad as when he plays his Hofner. With the Fender Jazz, he rests his fingers on the tug bar when playing with his thumb. With the 4001C64, he rests his fingers on the "G" string. But with the Hofner, he grabs the bottom of the pickguard, which looks very unattractive. I think Tom playing his Hofner with his thumb looks worse than Bill Wyman's upright style.
But yeah, a lot of nice instruments in Tom's music room. Saw his Rics in their rack, notably two MG 4005 basses, his first Ric: a 365OS, the 660/12TP and the 1997TP. Mudcrutch had some really good tunes from the 70s, love "I Can't Fight It" from the Heartbreakers' "Playback" album.

I think the story of how they got their record deal was very cool!
