Hello folks, new here.

Can you let me know whether this Rick is legit and if so, what model, era, and price range: http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q109 ... cpix/Rick/ I have an opportunity to buy, but I know there are lots of fakes and don't want to get bit. This would be my first Rick.

Thanks!

That's a 4003S. And I'll guess it's an '87 or early '88. I ORDER you to buy it. It will be the best sounding, best playing and most comfortable Rick you'll ever play.

Price range? Should be around $1500, give or take a couple hunge.

Welcome to the forum, Ross. That bass is a 4003S in mapleglo with black trim. Looks like a very nice one. What's the serial number? That will tell you when it was made.

Edit: You just beat me to the post, Jeff!

He said it was 87. So $1000 is good?

Welcome to the forum! Yup, that's a 4003S, nice looking too, pretty grain in the wood. I've always been a fan of Mapleglo & black trim. $1000 is a STEAL! Buy it NOW before he finds out what it's really worth! :)

YOOHOOO!!! Come to papa! Daddy's got a new bass in about 2 hours. You guys rock. I'll have to hang here now that I'm an owner. I've owned many basses, but never a Ric.

Congrats, Ross!

And welcome!

Go pick 'er up!

BTW, I have her twin. And I'll be gigging her tonight. I prefer chrome/white to the black hardware/plastic though, so I swapped mine out:

And I'm serious with my offer, BTW!

Thanks again fellas. Off to the bank. Just in time for rehearsal tomorrow, but I'll have to wait until next Saturday for a gig. 8)

Yeeeeeehawwww! Just plugged her in. I was ready for the killer tones, but the playability and build quality shocked me. Amazing bass all around and evidently a great deal. Missing the pickup cover, but I'd likely remove that anyway.

Not sure if it's an original case. It looks the age, but no markings I can see. What do the cases from this period look like?

Black tolex, blue plush liner.

Hell of a deal, congrats.
MG/BT is what all the cool kids play.

Welcome and congrats! Nice grain and patina on this bass. The seven screw tailpiece is a plus.
