Well, looking at the shipping page, it seems that 4003 MG's and FG's are starting to trickle out the door.

Perhaps my 4003MG that's been on order since March 2007 will be showing up soon...

Well, it doesn't really matter a whole lot since I've got '76 4001 and an '84 4003, but I have to admit, I still want the new one. It'll probably end up getting modified into a 5 string since I've always wanted one.

The new ones seem really special to me--though not everyone agrees. I had played some Rickys from days of yore and felt so-so about them but when I got my '07 just over a year ago, it went above and beyond expectations. I think they have streamlined a lot of neat features in, and are continuing to, such as the push-pull. Adjustable pole pieces=awesome. Putting them all flush to the pickup gives a really warm tone that still has plenty of edge.

Did anyone notice that seems to have Fender taken some cues from RIC's vintagizing trend with their '08 line? Especially the way they finished the neck and fingerboard... After having played my 4003 exclusively for several months, the '08 Fender felt surprisingly familiar to my hand. Maybe it's just me though. I like Rics and Fenders both.
