Old Truss Rod System Question

Paul, are the old truss rod nuts the same as the new ones? John Biscuti's 360F BB (single rod) is missing the nut and we want to be sure before proceeding.

I have no idea about the original single rod nut but I suspect it's the same as the later dual rod nut, which is indeed different than the current one. As I recall, the original one is an 8-32, and the new one 10-32. Anyway, Kenny Howes has a supply of the old type he can send you.

Cheers John! I'll phone Kenny tomorrow about it.

Thanks for the quick reply John. I couldn't remember for sure, but was pretty sure they were different. The new rods are hefty, and the rods in my 4001 are smaller, but this is the first time I've seen a single Rick truss system. The rod in the picture John B sent me looks like the ones in my 4001, but pictures are deceiving and we wanted to be sure before proceeding. Thank you.

Also, it appears the RIC site is down right now - trying to look in the Boutique and it is timing out. I get so far with a tracerout then it times out after this node:

JH is, of course, correct.

The old ones are getting hard to find, so Kenny's supply is gold...I used to have a (small) parts drawer filled with the old ones, but I'm down to 3...

When I make the old-style folded rods, I thread them to 10-32 now, making the new ones usable on old-style rods.

Yeah, one of the T1's was down for a few hours last night, for reasons so one seems to be able to explain. I was going to propagate the sites to another T1 but decided to wait until this morning; by the time I got here, everything was a normal. I HATE intermittent problems.

Well, if your servers are running a Microsoft OS, it's not exactly an intermittent problem...

The 1950s single-rod also used the 8-32.

And yes, I can send you a couple if you need 'em.

Here's one place where you can probably get something equivalent:

http://fastenermarketplace.com/14hexff832thdss.aspx

Stainless steel, 8-32 thread, 1/4 inch hex in various lengths. They also have lots of other sizes, like 10-32 too.

It came back up an hour or so later when I tried again. I had wondered if the fires got to a fiber!
