Strings for my Fretless Rick

Hi guys,

I'd like to get some nicer strings for my blueburst fretless, I don't like the feel of the ones that are currently installed (they don't feel like flats at all which is weird because they are supposed to be the stock strings).
I once saw a fretless with black strings and I think it really looks good, the problem is that DR black beauties are not flat... :|

So, which strings are recommended for fretless ricks? are there any other manufacturers that make flat black strings?

Thanks

Rotosound TruBass 88 black nylon! Come over when you have some time and give them a try, I have a set on my '64 Gretsch. My favorite flats. I have a used spare set but I think it's cut to Fender lengths. They sound almost like an upright. And they are smooth and not sticky feeling.

Alot of guys are putting TI Jazz Flats on their fretless basses. I have TI Jazz Rounds (low tension ot no tension)currently on my wht/wht '75 4001 FL. I like 'em, closest to the spirocore strings I have on my Wilfer upright.

I love the D'Addario Chromes on my 4001FL.
This past weekend, I got to try out Jdog's 4003FL that he has a set of the original RIC black tapewound flats. The tone was killer! I'll have to find a set similar to that (La Bella maybe) to try on my 4003FL.

Thanks guys
Apparently juststrings.com won't take my order, they find it difficult to deal with international credit cards :(

I know Joey, I know....skip the Labella, tried them...NOT IT.

EVERY once and a while, the RIC outlet sells these, they go for about $125.00, but it is the ONLY set you will ever need!

I love Jdog's FL too!

RIC ships fretless basses with roundwounds on them anymore. I took mine off immediately!

I tried D'A flats but now I use TIs and I'm hooked. The best, IMO.

Won't roundwounds eat my fretboard?

Nick: Canadian credit card != international credit card, I am not talking about a card that can be used internationally, I am talking about a card that was issued outside north America, apparently they can't check the billing address for many such cards, including mine, that's why they can't charge me :(

Gil, I can order for you whatever you need from juststrings.com, they take PayPal. I have ordered from then many times before without a single problem.

I wouldn't use rounds on a fretless. I have in the past and they ate grooves into the board, and there's a limited number of times you can have a fingerboard redressed.

I once had a blank plank 1980 Precision Bass (my first good bass) that I had the board coated with epoxy, a-la Jaco. When you do that, it will handle roundwounds.
