This one started with thinking about the songs I used to sing in Church. It's not what you call rock and roll. Just an offering I've been meaning to make. Hope it's good for you :D

It's based on a prayer in the Eastern Orthodox church that is from the second century liturgy, and then I added some mixed-up nursery rhymes.

Here's the words:

Trisagion

Agios O Theos
Agios O Isxiros
Agios Athanatos
Eleison Imas
Eleison Imas

first star
star bright
star light
I see tonight

‘cause the bible
this I know
jesus loves me
tells me so

If I die
my soul to take
pray the lord
before I wake

all good children
five six seven
one two three four
go to heaven

All the software instruments are out-of-the-box GarageBand plugins except for the Boldt Grand Piano and rainstick, and the Fitch Cello plugins.

:D :D :D I guess I got to be the 1st to hear this Kira... I really really love the intro, spoken word section and outro. On first listen I'm finding the more experimetal instrumental piece from around 3 minutes to four minutes a bit confronting, maybe because I'm a poppy two and a half chord melody/two minute song junkie. I need another listen or two to get my head around it.

I am awestruck at the achievement - it sounds like you recorded the chant vocals in a cathedral. The production quality is top-notch. Brain Eno would be proud!

Evan,

I beg your pardon for the abrupt change in focus. My inner artiste got absolutely out of hand . That's what seven years in art school will do to one.

I promise you a rocker next time

Don't get me wrong Kira - I like the challenging stuff - but I need three or so listens to take it in. As I've aged, my attention span has become incredibly short... ummm....er...

What were we talking about again?

I'm grateful that Griffin and Tripper are sorting out priorities for us in our old age

Thanks for comin' by, guys.

Scotty, I'm glad you like it. It's been way too long since I lived in Europe. I kinda had a notion about this song that the Europeans (including Brits) would find it more accessible than the Yanks do. I dunno, something about a higher general awareness of art history and such as is enjoyed by your average European schmo, is impressive to me. In America your average person under 25 thinks Michaelangelo is a turtle, you know. It's not just the educational system, either, Europeans make more time in their lives for art and music, it seems in recollection. I'm not trashing Americans, but our culture has different imperatives.

Oh, and Jim, here's Tripper: Griffin is holding down Evan's avatar :D

Thank you Mel, I appreciate you checking in on this one. :D

My mind is a warehouse where I've been collecting toys for 45 years. I don't look for inspiration. My cup runneth over; I just turn it on like a tap. Right now for me it's like they say in the Byrds' song.

It's just my time to throw stones. :)

Nice variation on the theme! It puts me in the mind of the The Moody Blues and Kate Bush.

Kate Bush? Interesting ... I'm not real hip to her, I'm sorry to say. I'll look into it.
Thanks, Mark.

One of her best albums is 'Hounds Of Love.' It's incredibly diverse. It sounds like a "best of" album, and in some ways may be just that, but unintentionally.
