Saturday night in Fort Worth at Bass Hall's McDavid Studio. My bandmate, Jeff, and I were the first in line before the doors opened. Once we entered, we snagged the front row-center (dead center) seats which were maybe 10 feet from Mr. McGuinn. The McDavid studio is a small venue across the street from Bass Hall. There were maybe 200 people in the audience so it's not a large space.

The stories were great, as was the music. As close as I was I could really see what his right hand was doing. Sure wish I could train my fingers to move that quickly. It was discouraging at best. I have got to get the DVD with his lessons and maybe that will help. 8 Miles High, Bells Of Rhymney, Chimes of Freedom and a few other Byrds tunes were played and Roger encouraged the audience to sing along. Great fun!

What can I say... It was a real treat to watch and listen. I was somewhat disappointed in that he disappeared afterward. Jeff and I hung around as long as we could, hoping that we could get him to sign an album cover but we were told that he doesn't do that any longer. Too many folks wanting autographs which took too much time and effort. I understand, so I'm not too disappointed. Too many rabid fans could make you not want to do it.

A thouroughly enjoyable evening. I wish I could be more eloquent but I am a graphics guy, not a writer.

I forgot to ask/mention that there was some kind of cover on the middle pickup. It covered the treble-side and the first 1 or 2 string sets. I didn't notice this until I was looking at my photos from the show.

Any answers or ideas?

Huh...some kind of pick guard? Can you post a photo?

Roger does not do 'meet n' greets.'

However, at many venues Camilla ocassionally sells already autographed copies of CDs.

That's about as far as it goes.

Yeah, Camilla was there selling CD's and posters and such. She was the source for for the information about not doing it any longer.

I was there also with my brother-in-law. I think we were sitting right by you. Great show! We were about the 3rd group in line I think. I talked to a man and his wife who were in line right behind you. He had a Rick also... I think there were quite a few Rickenbacker fans/owners there.

I missed the show as I just couldn't get up to Metroplex this past weekend. I'm pretty bummed, as I had tickets to last year's show which was postponed.

I had a similar situation at a recent show he did at the Jim Thorpe (PA) Opera House. Had great seats in the balcony. Took the pickguard from my 370/12 and was hoping to get it signed. His wife was selling the pre-autographed CDs and concert posters. She firmly but politely refused to take my pickguard for his autograph.

It was a wonderful show. One of my highlights was "Ballad of Easy Rider," which you don't hear much anymore.

It was an impressive sight to walk in and see his signature Ric, his Martin 12 and seven string signature guitars and a banjo sitting on stage in the spotlights waiting. The man can flat out play.

That's exactly what I did. Took the pickguard and an album to get signed.

Best laid plans and all that. Very understandable though.

I'm having issues with Photobucket so after Thanksgiving I'll post some photos.

I was fortunate enough to meet with Roger after his show in FW back in '04. This was about the same time he had first acquired his new Martin 7-string. He was very enamored with the Martin, explaining the process of Martin develping it for him. He also dazzled me with his newest GPS system. He had an attentive audience. The only other person allowed in the dressing room, other than myself, was Robert Carradine. Sort of a Revenge of the Nerds meets up with another nerd and one spectacular musician.

So, what is that thing on the middle pick-up??? Somebody must know...
