I have a 370 which now is kinda orphaned because of my 620.
I have been hankering after a12 string again (having sold my 360/12 a couple of years ago) .
To buy a 12 string here in OZ is going to cost a couple of grand plus.
What is the practicality of converting a 6 string to a 12string?

Are the heads the same size to allow ?

Is the head going to be messed up by shifting the machine heads?

How the heck would you jig it to machine the slots in the head?

Has it been successfully and tastefully done and how much did it cost?

I wouldn't do this John - at best you'll devalue the guitar and at worst you'll destroy it.

I'd hang it out as a trade - one of the other Aussies here may be willing to do a deal with you, saving you a boatload on shipping and the dealer bid/ask spread.

As you said, it's two grand and change, but that's equivalent to USD 1k + $250 Shipping + GST etc at the current exchange rate.

I agree. Sell or trade your 370 for a twelve string. If a conversion could be successfully done, it would most likely be cost prohibitive.

This topic comes up now and again in inquiries from customers. Yes, it can be done, but it could not be considered "original" in any sense, and would devalue the guitar and cost you $$$ both, which makes no sense from most standpoints.

Better to find a 360/12 (there are lots of them available, typically) and have a third pickup routed and wired in.
