used and abused, but I think it might have been the real deal?

Looks fake to me, the strap button is in the wrong location on the upper horn, the horns are shaped wrong, especially the lower one, the headstock shape looks awkward along the E/A side...

I believe Scott is right and someone got a real bargain. Look at the bubinga fretboard. It is real.

The ad says it's a faker, for what it's worth.

I think it's fake. Inlays don' look right to me. Also seller describes bow, and doesn't know if "truss" is working right. the lack of plural makes me think there's only one truss rod

Could just be the lighting in the pictures, but the inlays don't look right to me either.

My vote is FAKE. Horn shape is a little off, binding extends too far behind the tail, fret board and inlays look a little off, headstock shape is a little off, pickups are fake, strap button is in the wrong place, TRC is fake, tuners were replaced because they were inferior. All bolt-on parts are non-Rick.

BURN IT!

* Please, I'm only joking when I say burn it. No need to call me an idiot, this time! Ideally this faker should be donated to a needy child that wants to learn bass.

I still say it is real. I have never seen a fretboard like that on a faker. The bridge pup surround is not RIC though.

Neither is the bridge pickup - it looks much too square, just like the ones that appear on some copies. Although those usually have crosshead polepieces, and this doesn't appear to. The fretboard wood does look paler than most Fakers, not sure about the inlays but they don't look moto enough for JapCrap to me.

Unless this a more obscure copy (Italian Gherson or Brazilian Giannini, perhaps) I'm inclined to think it's real. It's such a bitsa that there's no hardware there that helps identify it one way or t'other.

Jon.

The neck pickup cover is shaped all wrong, this is not a jenuwyne Rick.
