Yes Steve, Stuart Sutcliffe appeared on the stage at the Iron Door Sunday afternoon May 15th 1960,this was one of the first Beatles (Silver Beetles) performances ever.
They appeared the night before Saturday 14th 1960 at Lathom Hall for Brian Kelly (Becay Promotions) on that occasion they called themselves The Silver Beats. They played the second spot after Kingsize Taylor and the Dominoes using the Dominoes drummer because Tommy Moor there drummer failed to appear, they were not organised with the music, it is on record that they sounded really bad,the promoter had little option but to ask the group to leave the stage.
I mention this to illustrate that all the members of the group weren't up to scratch, compared with the few established groups around at the time, Stuarts playing wasn't what you would expect from a competant muscian.

Steve, It is well documented that the Beatles returned to Liverpool from the trip to Hamburg in December 1960
Stuart remained in Germany returning back to Liverpool January/February 1961.
Peter McCormack has produced a time-line diary on the Iron Door Club site recording some of the main events that were promoted from 1960/64.
March 1961 heralded a flutter of Beatle activity at the Iron Door(aka Liverpool Jazz Society)
Stuart Sutcliffe was certainly available to play on the dates mentioned in the Time Lines.
I remember him playing on a number of occasions during this period, this was the time he wore his big floppy hat,he would always position himself on the right hand side looking at the audience he would invariable sit on the partition at the side of the stage with his foot on a amplifier.
