This guy is not sure what he has, he called the finish "Orange sunburst I think they call it NiteGlow" I have never heard of it. It looks Like an amber Fireglo to me. No listing of this color in the Rick color guide http://the-music-connection.com/ricinfo.htm

He said the store he purchased it from told him the late 70's. Don't think so, 4003 started production in 1981. I think its a very early 4003 since they used the Grover Wavy tuners in the 70's but if Rick had them in stock in the early 80's they would use them. I think the finish is beautiful. what do you think about its heritage? I told the seller where to find the SN so when he posts it we can see if I'm correct or not. :D

I think he's not sure about a number of things, hence the last part of his statement:

"Orange sunburst I think they call it NiteGlow, but that my be a cranial flatulation on my part."

I've seen 4003's from 1980 on. Never seen one from late '79, but I'd never say never! The finish on this guy just looks like early 80's Fireglo, which is more of a yellow to red burst than earlier or later FG's. I've always liked early 80's FG though. It's purdy!

Niteglo? HA!!

Yea, right before that he calls it a "2003".

I agree, it looks like early Eighties 4003 Fireglo.
