I finally have some rare Let It be footage to show on youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPvr4WMHLwI

Enjoy this glimpse into The Beatles circa 1969, a conversation with Peter Sellers (who Played inspector Cluseau in the Pink panther movies.)
My favorite Line is when Sellers says that John's weed stoned him out of his mind & was fantasic. Funny stuff. The next part I will post is when he leaves and john asks not to leave needles lying around, and that drugs were better than exercise for stress relief. Can You Dig It Pete?

Well, that's got to be one of the most uncomfortable moments for the Fab Four on film...

It sounds like they may just be joking around with each other. Especially knowing both Sellers' and Lennon's sense of humor. Much of it sounds tongue in cheek. Lennon's tone is similar to his conversation w/Jagger in Rock and Roll Circus. This appears to possibly be a sound check of some type as the beginning of the video starts w/someone saying something about balance and Sellers is just standing around with a mic hovering in front of him. Then he says "nice to have met you fellas". Perhaps he was actually meeting them for the first time (other than Ringo who he knew from Magic Christian). In that case Lennon wouldn't have known him to give him "the grass in Piccadilly".

Anyway, that's my take on it.

Bill, how about the line that drugs are better than exercise for stress relief "Hand Down", "Hand Down". He seemed sincere, as for Sellers John called him Pete so did Paul I'm almost certain they met before. As for the grass in Picadilly yeah It could be a joke but the Beatles, John in particular was doing heroin at that time and well into the 70's so was Yoko. "shooting is exercise" again could be a joke but knowing the history of their drug use I think not.

but this is only conjecture on my part.

I always found that Lennon was able to consistently floor his 427 motor mind when he was trading lines with someone on camera, whether it was the RRC clip or this Sellers clip, or even something else. What command of the moment. He usually seemed to feed well off of the energy he was surrounded by...positive or negative or whatevah! Gotta remember the cat is around 28 years old then too...and the anachronism of drug culture of the era.
Could you imagine having a jambo with the guy!? You couldn't even leave the moment for a sec I bet!! 8) Thanks! I just love outtakes and Unseen footage!! Funny , they always seems to confirm prejudices! (positive connotation)
