I am wondering what position (flat, standing on end body down, standing on its side) is best for storing Ricks in their cases. Any help would be appreciated.

I just wouldn't stand the case with the head end down. Other than that, the important thing is where you keep the case so it is out of harm's way, not near a heat source, etc.
To make better use of room, mine are all standing on the body end of the cases and they are help up in a way so that they won't fall over.

Best is probably on it's feet upright or flat followed by on it's butt end and probably the worst would be stacking them on top one another lying flat.
If enough of them are stacked on top one another lying flat, the bottom ones would probably start to deform a bit....not to mention the scaring by the metal feet.

I normally store mine above a burning fire suspended by a thin rope bridge.Now whilst i agree that its not the best i forgot to mention that if it drops its not all bad because the tracks below would hold it in time for the express steam train that trundles down the line now and again.....
