Not I alas... But I too was watching this auction closely...

I always grab the images of the older guitars.. I have quite a pile of RIC images on my hard-drive now... It is my Rickenbacker porn collection

Odd serial number though? JL199 I think that it was...

Beginning in the fall of 1960, RIC simplified their serial numbers. The J represented the year 1960, and the L represented the month, December. By '61 they started back at the beginning of the alphabet with the letter A representing the year. B for '62 and so on. The letters for the production month remained the same.
I think this is how it went. Obviously, it's changed since.

Not me....I wish. (and Capri's aren't even my bag).

That was a bloody steal for a Capri.

I'm only 6 months older than that guitar. My production number must read JF ###!
That'd be nice to unwrap on Christmas morning.

I was sorely tempted. That was way too cheap for a Capri.

Under different times...likely a much different price.

I wasn't asleep either. I didn't buy it, woulda if'n I coulda.

But I did add it to the register as a "collected instrument".

Interestingly, the auto serial decoder in the register decided it was a Dec. 1970 instead of Dec 1960 as it should be according to RIC. I guess we'll have to get that fixed...

What is Xmas?
I think it's from a song, "Let's put the "X" back in Christmas"...
