I didn't really know what else to call this thread, or even if it belongs in this section, but hey, why not? Here it goes.............
Ok, at some point when you were young, or maybe older, you thought a song lyric was something it wasn't. Time to fess up folks, we've all done it, so let's have a good laugh. I hope to get maximum participation on this one. Naturally, I'll go first.......
As a young preteen kid, I thought that Led Zeppelin, on stairway to heaven, were singing "there's a wino down the road" instead of "as we wind on down the road."
My daughter thought I was weird for listening to Hendrix because she thought the lyrics to Purple Haze were "scuse me while I kiss this guy"
I've got many more, but now it's your turn!

It's true, I thought that there was a "bathroom on the right" instead of a "bad moon on the rise" when I was younger.

My lovely wife swears that the line from "Runaway Boys" by the Stray Cats was:
"Your underpants are teeny and you can't get a job"

Then there's always Manfref Mann's version where, even though I know it's supposed to be "revved up like a deuce", it still sounds like "wrapped up like a douche"...

I was going to mention that.
This was sent to me by my guitar player. He got it from someone else, so I don't know it's origination, but it's pretty funny. My band has actually played it this way with our own added lyrics to fill in the back story.
-----
I was thinking back to my gigging days and a story that sticks in my mind from those "old days".
I recall one drinking establishment that we played in, required the band to play Saturday afternoon matinee and also to allow anyone in the audience, to join the band on stage for a song. Not the most enjoyable of requirements, but let's face it, if ya wanna get paid, you do the gig!
Well, we had played a set and during the break, a guy comes up to us, guitar in had and asks if he could join us for a song or two. We say, of course, what do you want to play?
He says" Do you guys know "Slow Moving Walter"?
Us, "uhmm... no who does that song?
"Not really sure but it's an old song, I'm sure you know it!"
Us... "ok, could you sing a bit of it for us?"
Sure he says, I'll do some of the chorus:
"Slow moving Walter, that fire engine guy"
We stare back a him in complete disbelief....trying not to laugh in his face, because the tune he sang those lyrics to was none other than.....
SMOKE ON THE WATER!!! I kid you not!!!
Smoke on the water ,a fire in the sky, was determined to be "Slow moving Walter, that fire engine guy"!!!!!

What I love are the alternate lyrics from the artists themselves that you hear in out-takes and bootlegs. The Beatles were notorious for this. Some of Lennon's alternates are unrepeatable in polite company ("Baby you're a ..." is one queasy example. PM me if you don't know the joke.
