Hi everyone. If you've been following the "in the beginning there was a garage" thread, you are familiar with this project already. Here's our first completed refinish, a clear pearlcoat on a recent Squier Affinity Tele.
Many thanks to PW for guidance as we get started, he's been very helpful. Many people choose to guard their trade secrets very closely, but Paul has been very generous with info. Without it we wouldn't have made it this far.

Take a look at that pearl. It's really evident around the edges. Surely you can see why I chose to wait for good sunlight to take these pics!

Hey Jason,
It looks great, nice job! Really shiny and nice wood grain!
...but for the life of me, I don't see anything "pearl"...what am I not seeing?
I see what looks like tiny little sparkles, is that it? It does look great!

The pearl is most evident in the edge-on shot of the shoulder.
Nice work, Mr. Hackett!

It's really hard to photograph. A video may show the effect better. If it's sunny when I get home tonight I'll try to shoot it that way. Thanks for all the compliments, gang!

I do see it now, as Jeff said- more visible on the edge shot - very subtle. Looks really nice!

Thanks everyone!
Project #2 is a Squier Jagmaster, which is currently on hold for Project #3, a brand new guitar by Ben Chafin (
www.chafincustom.com).
Project #4 will likely be my '87 610/12 JG/BT. I removed the hardware and strings months ago and have been missing having the guitar available to play!
Project #2 will be reassembled and on display at the Orlando expo in it's current "relic'd" condition.
Project # 1 will be for sale at the low low price of $10,000 USD. Seriously! You never know.

Very nice work! Props to Paul W. for "sharing the wealth" vis-a-vis his extensive knowledge of finishing/re-finishing techniques.
