We will cease taking orders...

Has this been covered? New "overlap models?" Tell me more RIC!

-----------------------------------------------

We will cease taking orders for the following models following the end of the NAMM 2009 tradeshow on January 18th, 2009:

325C58
4001C64
4001C64S

This change is due to the factory already working at 100% capacity, combined with a plan to offer some additional products which might be considered to overlap with these models.

Here Rikk, also posted in the bass section and on the "CS's other bass" thread.

Perhaps the V68? :) Just add checkerboard binding and the pertinent hardware from the C64 to the 4003....

A V68 would be cool!

Don't hold your breath until any new models are actually announced. Part of RIC's statement is that "the factory already working at 100% capacity".

What would a V68 mean? What are "68" features?

Well that's news! That means that my beloved 4001C64S will probably now be forever more rare than a 4001CS. Could bode well for future value. Not that I care though. I'm not gonna sell it! Too bad more weren't made. Whiners cried about the upside-down headstock. But on a PM replica bass, why wouldn't you have an upside-down headstock?

I wonder what the product overlap might be?

Maybe a right-side up headstock RM1999 re-issue?

:?

Andrew,
Your template is almost complete, it is of course the correct colour, however it does not have a Horseshoe pickup, which of course it should have !!

Looks fabulous though !!

Non-Grover C64 tuners and a horseshoe option would be my vote.

No big treble pickup surround either. It ain't a 57 Chevy, it's a bass!

I could go for that, Jeff. Where do I sign up?

I always figured I'd order a C64s someday... but the thought of something cooler stops me from a last minute order now... maybe pick up a previously loved C64s later.

Cooler? What could be cooler? NOTHING, I say!

I wonder if this thread (http://rickresource.com/forum/viewtopic ... &sk=t&sd=a) had something to do with the decision to end the C64's run?

Well, if sparkly inlays are a part of this "V68" spec, it's dead in the water..the cost of the material will kill it.

I think the current inlays look just fine, we do have to be realistic here.
