This is great, both in terms of the quality of the performance and the video. These guys were a pretty rockin' band back in the day (when exactly is the clip from, BTW?). I'd always heard that Stipe was really awkward on stage early on, that he sang with his back to the audience, etc. But he looks like a real rock singer here, to my eyes. Great playing from Pete Buck there, too.

Thanks for posting, but I must take mild exception to your subject line; I thought I was going to see an early clip of their rare song, "Permanent Vacation"! :D

Ran across this link while looking for something else...thought I would share.
I'm having problems getting the video to stream 100% smoothly, maybe it's my bandwidth.
Anyway, it is a complete show vid from 1985 Rockpalast with GREAT sound. Enjoy!

Thanks--that show from the Rockpalast is cool, if a little sloppy (though it's nice to know bands other than my own make mistakes, too!). This is one of the rare gigs where Buck plays 330's exclusively (and a 330/12 for most of the show at that!).

These guys shared a very weird sense of humor back then. Does it strike anyone else as perverse for a band to cover Aerosmith's "Toys in the Attic" on a Rick 12er?

My thoughts exactly on Toys. :)
