Something Else was a British television programme broadcast on BBC2 from 1979 to 1981 and targeted at a youth audience. It began in the autumn of 1979 on Saturday evenings and was the first example of the genre known as "youth (often deliberately mis-spelled as yoof) TV " encompassing unknown and largely untrained young presenters with undisguised regional accents, minimal scripting, magazine format, freeform discussion of contemporary concerns and performances by "alternative" bands. For those in the US that didnt get to see this fantasic show that was short lived and compelling to watch this thread is one to view.
In this thread i`ll post a few of the most amazing performances that YT have to offer. All filmed for Something Else these performances will include the last (and only nationally broadcast) TV appearance by Joy Division who performed "Transmission" and "She's Lost Control" live in the studio in September 1979, and The Clash performing , in their only televised performance for the BBC.So sit back and open a beer and enjoy the Amazing Something Else
