This hysterical ad was posted over in the Rick Guitar forum, but got me thinking. What was your first guitar?
In my pathetic case, when I was 9 my mother was preparing to work in a summer camp (that I went to) and she got the image of herself strumming along to folk songs by the campfire. Long story short - after the inexpensive nylon string classical guitar came through the door the only time she ever saw it was when I'd emerge for an impromptu "performance" in the kitchen.
That Master Card ad reminded me of my father taking me to Manny's (NYC) around 1965. They had a black Rick 325 on display ... just like John's.... and I couldn't believe my eyes, and I was only a few inches (and a pane of glass) away from it! No, unfortunately my father didn't buy it for me. Completely out of the question. I wonder what the price was back then.... $300?
