Was there ever such a thing (design-wise)?

Hello.

I always wondered: was there ever a Rickenbacker bass in which design the regular 4000 series upper horn was combined with the 600 series lower horn?

Best wishes,

Ivan

No, no. I just thought it would be neat looking.

Other wild dream: a bass with a 381-ish body. Yummy.

A little more subtle, perhaps. I mean: with the lower horn line following the curve that starts at the upper horn.

There is a prototype in the RIC factory that is similar except the upper horn is not as long. It looks like a bass version of the 600 series.

I believe this is the one Ted's talking about:

Is that a Mustang bass pickup without the covers?

It looks more like a split version of the RI horseshoe pickup minus the shoes.

That photo shows some precedence here. The 4004Cii I used to have need work on it and RIC added two channels to access the truss rods at the end of the neck, very similar to those on that prototype bass.

That bass is good looking. Just a slighter longer upper horn, and it would be perfect (for me, at least).

Looks like a late 70's kramer bass
