Well, I was unispired. But Fender should be inspired. Did you see the back of Springsteen's tele? Rubbed raw. I see another Fender 15k reissue on the horizon!

Meh, I have no opinion. My mom was sure having a good time, though! I am disappointed that Steve didn't play his 660/12! That would have made it memorable!

Springsteen makes me yawn at the best of times. I don't know why but I just can't get into his stuff.

I like Springsteen but I get the feeling he thinks he's cooler than anyone alive.

Love him, loved his performance.

Can't say I'm too into his music, but I certainly respect the guy. He certainly knows and understands American popular music, and I can think of plenty worse artists out there that get more recognition than Springsteen.

Maybe being called "the Boss" for 30-some years has made him believe it?
The guy has had a great career, better than most for sure! He did a good job, pretty much what I expected to see.
Is it just me, or has the "gospel choir" on rock songs become REALLY cliche?

I thought all of that extra backup was over the top as well; woodwinds, brass, two acoustics at times, three electrics, ugh. I know he uses some of that stuff live, but they should have been called the E Street Big Band or Orchestra or something-nuts!

When he held up that Tele, I thought the same thing; "Oh no, someone at Fender's going to get the idea for a Springsteen relic Tele now-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"!!!!!

Loved it...it's the Super Bowl after all. If you're not going to go all-out then why bother?

Same here. I appreciate where he sits in popular music culture, however I don't own a single Springsteen album.

As far as his signature "Tele" is concerned, it's actually a modded Esquire.

First of all not defending Bruce, lost interest in him back in the very early 80's, liked him before his mega stardom, when he used to play at a club here in pa. called the main piont, (Hall and Oats, Jackson Browne got thier starts there also), as far as his modded Esquire, could care less, is Fender see an oppertunity to sell Bruce Tele's more power to them , I wont be buying one, yes it will be overpriced just like the 75 anni Ric was, didnt by one them eithier, paid alot less for my 06 (anni year) 4003midblu that is the exact same bass, (different color finish and plastic)same pick ups and electronics, .I get a kick and laugh out loud when people say this would have been better with a ric or more memorable, if Bruce, Little Stevie and Gary Tallent al played Rics at half time, this thread would have been flooded with post like that was the greatest performence since the birth of Christ, There was a tread a while back about Kansas, and someone actually said that if Dave Hope used a rick instead of a Fender precision that thier songs would have sounded better, I can only speak for myself buthis precision sound full of tone and awsume to me, I didnt miss the Ric, , anothe idiot post a while ago about going to see the Peter Green school of music perform yess songs with Jon Anderson, and instead of compliminting how good these children perfomed the songs with Jon Amderson, all he complained about was the kid that was playing bass usea Precision bass and not a R, well if it bothers you that much, buy the kid a Ric yourself, I have to be honest, its getting hard to tell people I own Rics, dont wont them to think im as shallow and one sided as some, I just had an urge to watch the movie Shallow HAL, wonder why ?????

No way can Fender's exploitation of both its artists and its customers, be compared to Rickenbacker's 75th Commemorative DCM instruments.

Those 75th DCMs were a thankless task if ever there was one, judging from the reactions and opinions of some people. These were issued to commemorate a very special double occasion; the 75th anniversary of both the invention of the electric guitar, and of Rickenbacker, too. Due to their limited production, the special paint finish, and the special engraved trim pieces, a premium was added onto the usual MSRP for the four models, but it was to cover the extra cost of building and handling the orders.

There was no attempt to "milk" either the occasion or the model release with excessive charges unrelated to the intrinsic value of the instruments, unlike many of Fender's (and Gretsch's, and Gibson's, etc.) so-called "artists' replicas", which are priced to what marketing determines the traffic will bear, to a factor of three to five times normal price, which could be ten or more times the cost to build.

Actually Angelo, I would have been bummed out if Bruce had played a Rick!

Good point on the 75th Ricks Paul; they were done in a unique and special way, without making them over the top price wise, or design wise, or claiming to do so!
